Problem
The drug non adherence is a major problem that costs Canadian health care system over 5 billion dollars annually. This problem results in 5% of Canadian hospitalization and 5% of total physician’s visits. Moreover, miss-management of prescribed medication, i.e., not following dietary instruction prior to taking the medication, reduces the efficiency of the medication.
However, all current medication management tools rely on user’s reaction to reminders. If user solely click on notification on his/her mobile app without actually taking the medication, there would be no more reminder sent by current applications. The second problem that Zaker Medicare is tackling is that the current drug management tools are not capable to monitor medications with special dietary instruction as Ampicillin or Bisacodil that should be taken on an empty stomach. None of current tools can send proper notification to patients who have forgotten to follow such dietary instructions.
